Foreign holidays are very much back in everyone’s mind. But if, like me, you are not quite ready to pack yourself into a flying metal tube then the memories of past vacations will have to do for now.

Artists have always enjoyed travelling and the Mediterranean has been hugely inspirational. Its proximity, diversity of cultures and pleasant climate make it an obvious choice. So if you are staying at home this year let these artists transport us to the warmth and beauty of Southern Europe. We will be back – just maybe not this year.
