Christine McArthurSelection box
It’s been too long since we had a full-scale show with Christine McArthur and we are delighted to include this wide-ranging selection box of her work as our Christmas exhibition.
Christine first showed here in the late 1980s, when it was the Glasgow home of The Fine Art Society, at the invitation of Andrew McIntosh Patrick, who had come across (and bought) some of her work in one of her early London exhibitions. Exhibitions of her pastels followed in both of the company’s Edinburgh and Glasgow galleries, and then continued when Roger Billcliffe took over the Glasgow premises in 1992.
Christine’s work is always changing and developing, in a wide variety of medium, all underwritten by her innate skill in drawing and sense of design. This exhibition ranges from free and immediate studies in watercolour of flowers and still life, to her signature embroideries (which first appeared in her student diploma show in 1974), and her much admired and sought-after collages. Texture, colour and design are at the heart of all her work.
A great show for us to end 2021.
