For Christine McArthur the highlight of any trip to France has been a visit to a local street market – whether it be a brocante which has provided her with many of the objects which appear in her still lifes, or the produce markets, the subject of this small show of recent watercolours.

The exciting range of fruit and vegetables, colourfully and skilfully displayed on the traders’ stands, always seizes her attention and leads to many sketches which are later, like these in this small exhibition, are worked up into more finished pictures.

All of the work here is mounted but unframed.
