Bill Wright
Bill Wright
1931 – 2016
Bill had his studio on the Atlantic shore of Kintyre. The majority of his output involves the sea, in all its moods and representations of watercolours.
Born in Glasgow and brought up in Partick, the son of a shipyard plater, Bill Wright attended Glasgow School of Art. He taught art in schools and subsequently became an art adviser, encouraging teachers to give all children a good art experience. In 1977 he was elected to the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour. For half a century he painted on the Mull of Kintyre, an area he loved and which provided much inspiration. At times his works were very abstract and symbolic, concentrating on themes of nature and transience.
