Glasgow School of Art Graduate Karen Suzuki makes mixed media textile animals, especially urban birds. She uses her version of traditional hand-sewing techniques to build up surfaces from pieces of altered, frayed textiles and other media, sewn together vigorously with visible freehand stitching, giving each creature a sense of fragility, uniqueness, vitality and spontaneity.
